MUSIC MOVES EUROPE TALENT CHARTS

RULES AND TERMINOLOGY

The Music Moves Europe Talent Charts are tracking cross-border success of emerging European artists, the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards reward it!

The Music Moves Europe Talent Charts are tracking all emerging European artists. The ranking is based on available streaming data and airplay, both outside the artists’ home countries. The acts with the highest cross-border success can be nominated for the next Music Moves Europe Talent Awards.

  • The Weekly Top 100 Chart shows an overview of the European emerging artists. The chart ranks the most successful tracks by emerging European artists, based on streaming and airplay outside of their home countries.
  • The Monthly Artist Chart is the selection tool for the future Music Moves Europe Talent Awards nominees. The chart ranks accumulated track impact data from the Top 100 on an artist level. Previous MME Talent Award winners, EBBA winners and the Eurovision contestants are not eligible to win the prize and are filtered from the chart.

The emerging European artists are all artists who released their first single in the past 36 months and did not yet reach 1 billion listeners across the continent.

The 1 billion rule is the threshold between emerging and established artists. If an artist accumulates more than 1 billion impressions since the release of its debut the act will be regarded established. The 1 billion impression is calculated based on the total impact of all charting tracks.

The European artists are all artists from the 28 EU countries, with the addition of Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Iceland, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, San Marino, Serbia, Switzerland, and Ukraine.

The European music professionals select the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards nominees from the Artist Chart. The Music Moves Europe Talent Awards is partnering with the most influential music professionals from Europe. They are presented with the results quarterly and are allowed to add missing artists. At the end of the Music Moves Europe Talent Awards year, in July, we present the best performing acts to the professionals for a vote. The 24 artists with the most votes will be nominated for the Music Moves Europe Talent Award! The list of all partner organisations that are eligible to vote can be found here.

Additional rule: The Music Moves Europe Talent Charts follow Swiss artists and list them on the Top 100 chart. However, because the acts from Switzerland may not win a Music Moves Europe Talent Award are excluded from the Artist Chart.

Artist Week Impact: The number of listeners the artist reached with all of its charting tracks combined in the past week.
Artist Total Impact: The number of listeners the artist reached with all of its charting tracks combined, since appearing in the chart for the first time.
Track Week impact: The number of listeners the track reached in the past week.
Track Total Impact: The number of listeners the track reached throughout its entire chart run.
